Thanks for helping to understand that this cameras is junk. Have to look at more expensive ones. This "HDs" have image of cheap SDs. And you need a real camera to take photos.

How are you viewing the video? It will not look much different unless the playback device is also full HD. Quality should not depend on the card used.

Hi , I just bought myself a Sanyo TH1, and using 8GB Class 2 SDHC cards. When using the HD mode, the video doesn't look that much clearer compared to the SD mode. Is the video quality dependent on the Class of the SDHC card?

Hi Steve,

Any chance you could write more about the ease of editing the video coming out of the Sanyo TH1? Do you post-process the video? What programs accept the format coming out of the Sanyo?

Thanks,
Jim McAuley

Hey thanks for the response! We are going to improvise, I think I'm going to get myself the TH1, and my wife the CG-10 which will be be just a little more than the FH1 by itself. I can't justify the 1080p on such a little camera for home video yet because the only time we'd benefit from it is by keeping the video on the memory card and playing it through a 1080p TV. Since all of our end video will be going to the web or DVD anyway, I think the 720 will do just fine.

If stills are a big consideration I would go for the FH1 or the 5mp Sanyo (though that only has a 5x zoom). I am having fun with the TH1, and it does what I want, but I carry a second camera for stills.

Awesome review! I'm actually torn between wanting the TH1 or the higher end FH1. I like the 30x optical zoom on the FH1 which gets you up much closer than the 10-16x optical zoom on the FH1. The FH1 however offers shooting at 1080p resolution, and 8.o mp (12.0 interpolated) still capture where as the TH1 does 780p video and only 2.0 mp. I'm leaning on the TH1 though because of the greater optical zoom and the lower price. The 720p is still decent for video. My concern is the the 2.0 mp stills. I know that isn't a problem for photos only going to web or DVD slide shows, but how do those photos do when printing them to 8x10 or even 4x6? Thanks.
